Stamped Concrete or "Pattern Imprinted" concrete is a product that imitates other materials such
as stone, slate, brick, tile, wood, etc. Unlike masonry pavers or natural stone, concrete offers endless
options for customization because it can be shaped, imprinted, textured and colored to achieve almost any
look are pressed into the concrete. Stamped concrete can also blend harmoniously with just about any
landscape or architectural scheme, making it suitable for all types of exterior hardscaping, and some interior
applications as well.
The Process
Once the concrete is poured and the surface is "floated" or trowelled, large rubber mats or stamps are
arranged over the surface in a predetermined pattern. When the stamps are removed, a texture and/or
imprint is left. Color is added to the surface prior to stamping or to the concrete mixture itself. A
contrasting colored release powder is also applied across the surface of the concrete to keep the stamps
from sticking to the concrete. Once the mats are removed a portion the release remains imbedded in the
surface texture to further enhance the appearance by adding an "antiqued" effect. Multiple colors can be
applied to create a more natural result.
The Benefits
Cost Savings. Stamped concrete is far more economical when compared to other decorative paving
surfaces, saving as much as 50% off the comparable product that it replicates. Stamped prices average
between $8 - $16 /sf , depending on the size and detail. Natural stone ranges around $20 /sf.
Added Equity. In addition to the cost savings, the National Association of Realtors recently reported
the added resale value or equity that decorative paving provides is as much as 150% over the cost of the
product.
Design Flexibility. Stamped concrete is well suited for many surfaces including patios, porches,
driveways, sidewalks, pool decks, etc. It can also be used for vertical applications to create the look of
stone or brick walls. As mentioned above, concrete offers endless possibilities for creative expression.
With dozens of patterns, textures, and colors to choose from we can create inspiring results that will be
enjoyed for years.
Longevity and Durability. Concrete is one of the most durable materials on the planet. With proper
maintenance it can outlast most of the alternatives 2:1. Concrete paving is a monolithic (one piece) product.
Aesthetic Value. Simply put, "It looks Fantastic!"
